Oft habe ich mitbekommen, wie im Selfpublishing diskutiert wird, ob die Anmerkung eines Lektors umgesetzt werden soll oder nicht. Was also tun, wenn ein Lektor sagt, dass man es so machen soll, aber der Autor es partout nicht machen möchte? Im Endeffekt ist es immer noch das Werk des Autors und er hat die Entscheidungsgewalt darüber. Auch wenn wir unseren persönlichen Geschmack als Lektor herauslassen (sollten), ist auch unsere Meinung subjektiv. Entweder finden wir einen anderen passenden Vorschlag oder wir akzeptieren die Wahl des Autors. Wenn wir allerdings Magenschmerzen mit seinen Entscheidungen haben, können wir den Autor bitten, dass wir nicht als sein Lektor genannt werden wollen.

I’ve often heard self-publishers discuss whether or not to implement an editor’s note. So what do you do, if an editor says you should do it that way, but the author really doesn’t want to do it? The bottom line is, that it is still the author’s work and he or she has the authority to decide on it. Even though we (should) leave our personal feelings as editors out of it, our opinion is subjective as well. Either we find another suitable proposal or we accept the author’s choice. However, if we have a stomach ache with his choices, we can ask the author that we don’t want to be named as his editor.
